Salt Lake City celebrated the opening Friday night of a new — temporary — plaza on Highland Drive and Sugarmont Avenue.

Sugarmont Plaza is part of Salt Lake City's "lighter, quicker, cheaper" program to enliven street life without a lot of time and expense.

The location, the parking lot of the former Deseret Industries, is near the terminus of the streetcar line that will run from South Salt Lake to Sugar House.
