Buckner, Bees beat Grizzlies to climb above .500

Billy Buckner pitched seven strong innings to help lead the Salt Lake Bees to a 5-2 win over the host Fresno Grizzlies in a Pacific Coast League game Sunday afternoon. Buckner (6-2) allowed two runs on eight hits with four strikeouts and one walk. Jeremy Berg and Chad Cordero combined for two scoreless innings of relief, with Cordero retiring the last four batters to earn the save.

Tommy Field and Luke Carlin had two hits each for the Bees (36-35), and Efren Navarro hit a two-run homer in the fifth inning.

Fresno scored its only runs in the bottom of the fifth on a two-run blast by Gary Brown.
