The Utah Valley Convention and Visitors Bureau, the official destination marketing organization for Utah County, announced the addition of Amanda Oscarson as its interactive marketing manager. She will be responsible for managing the bureau's social media efforts.

Tanner LLC has appointed Dan Griffiths as director of strategic planning for the accounting firm's leadership solutions practice. Previously, Griffiths was a founding partner of Proficio Services Group, a firm specializing in solving strategy and process challenges for businesses. He is a CPA and a graduate of the Leadership Academy of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

The Utah-based law firm of Snow, Christensen & Martineau has announced that Nathan A. Crane has joined the firm. He has extensive experience with complex criminal defense and civil litigation in state and federal courts. He also represents physicians in matters with the Department of Professional Licensing, as well as peace officers with civil rights complaints filed in federal court.

Parsons Behle & Latimer attorney William J. Stilling was recently installed as president of the American Society for Pharmacy Law. He will serve a one-year term. Stilling is a shareholder and directs the firm's health care practice group.

The Alzheimer's Association of Utah has announced the appointment of Kate Nederostek as program director of awareness and education. She will oversee support groups, care consultations and safety services to those affected by Alzheimer's disease and related dementias in Utah and eastern Idaho. She previously served as a divisional memory care specialist for Trilogy Health Services for 20 senior communities across Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Michigan.

David B. Guzy of Sandy has been named senior vice president and senior trust officer at Bank of Utah. He is a graduate of Brigham Young University in finance and economics who has worked for 30 years in banking, financial planning and investment management positions. Larry R. Hintze of Centerville has joined the bank as a vice president and relationship manager. Hintze, who will work at the Redwood Road branch, brings more than 30 years of commercial, construction and residential real estate lending experience to his new position. Jordan L. Call has joined as a loan officer in the bank's Logan City Center mortgage office. Call has more than seven years of experience working in the mortgage and finance industries.

The Intermountain Ski Areas Association has honored two Deer Valley Resort employees. General Manager Chuck English received the association's "Outstanding Contribution Award" for his 40 years of industry service. After working at Alta and Park City Mountain Resort, English joined Deer Valley when it opened in 1981, as ski patrol manager. He became director of mountain operations in 1986. Another original Deer Valley employee, Richard Olsen, received the "Golden Wrench for Vehicle Maintenance." He oversees a fleet of 300 vehicles and specializes in maintaining 16 snowcats.

The University of Utah has announced that Patricia G. Morton, a nationally known expert in nursing education, critical care and cardiovascular nursing, has been named dean of its College of Nursing. A board-certified acute care nurse practitioner and Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing, Morton most recently served as a professor and associate dean for academic affairs at the University of Maryland School of Nursing.

Utah Gov. Gary Herbert and the Governor's Office of Economic Development have announced that Carol Lynn George has been named state science adviser. George, who has mentored students in the science, technology, engineering and math programs, was the founder and principal consultant at 32ATPs, an international scientific consulting firm.

Mindshare Technologies, a Utah company that conducts customer-satisfaction surveys for its clients, has announced that Lonnie Mayne has been named president. He previously served as the company's "chief experience officer." Mayne was recently voted onto the board of directors for the Customer Experience Professionals Association, a global nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the way businesses interact with their customers.
