This would be humorous if it were not so pathetic: The report that the United States will get its first new oil refinery since 1976, with Green River being the home for the new facility ("Way cleared in Utah for 1st new U.S. refinery since 1976," Tribune, June 26).

Oh, and then there's the part about the $12.7 million "incentive" being paid by the state of Utah to win the economic development "prize" that no one else in the entire nation even wants. Proving once again that, at least in Utah, truth can be far, far stranger than fiction.
