Critics of the medical waste incinerator in North Salt Lake City plan a protest Tuesday.

Foxboro neighborhood residents are upset about hazardous pollutants emitted from the Stericycle Inc. plant and about recent operational problems and violations. Stericycle officials said Thursday their plant is complying with its state-issued permit, but neighbors want it shut down.

Utah Physicians for Clean Air, Greenaction for Health and Environmental Justice, HEAL Utah and the Utah Chapter of the Sierra Club are organizing the event. The protest is set for 5:30 p.m. at 90 North 1100 West, across the road from the Legacy bike trail parking lot.
