BYU's men's basketball schedule for the 2013-14 season will include Texas, it was learned on Wednesday as ESPN announced the semifinal matchups for the CBE Hall of Fame Classic in Kansas City on Nov. 25 (a Monday). The Cougars have known they would be competing in the Classic at the Sprint Center in Kansas City for several months now, but didn't know the opponent, or time. It will be the first game of the night, tipping off at 5:30 p.m. MDT, and will be televised on ESPNU. Texas is coming off a 16-18 season but is expected to be better this season under coach Rick Barnes. The Cougars will begin the process of replacing Los Angeles Clippers free-agent signee Brandon Davies but should be OK as long as Team USA selectee Tyler Haws (World University Games) is still around. In the championship game of the CBE Hall of Fame Classic, to be held on Tuesday, Nov. 26, the winner of the BYU-Texas game will take on the winner of the DePaul-Wichita State contest. Losers meet at 5:30 p.m. MT. The championship game will be televised on ESPN2, while the consolation game will be televised on ESPNU. What else is known about BYU's upcoming hoops schedule? As mentioned in a previous blog, the Cougars will open the season at home against Weber State. They will also host Iowa State of the Big 12 in the Marriott Center, and meet Utah State at Energy Solutions Arena in Salt Lake City. They will meet UMass in Springfield, Mass., and will also play at Utah (second Saturday in December) and Oregon.
