Will there actually be a spinoff of "Breaking Bad" centered on Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk), the sleazy lawyer who counts Walter White (Bryan Cranston) and Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) among his clients?

If creator/executive producer Vince Gilligan has his way - yes.

"It is my fervent wish that there will be a Saul Goodman spin off," Gilligan said.

He said he's been working Peter Gould, one of his writers who created the character in Season 2.

"I'm not speaking for any company or professional entity when I say that I really hope it happens," Gilligan said. "You know it's for powers bigger than me to figure out if can come to fruition, but I would very much like it to be the case. And, creatively, we're working toward that."

And Odenkirk is definitely on board if they can pull it off.

"I'd do it in a second," he said. "I'd do it because, if Vince wrote it, it's going to be awesome."

I'd like to think so. But, as much as I love "Breaking Bad," I'm more than a little skeptical.

Saul is great as a supporting character. But a show centered on Saul … seems like a very iffy proposition.

If anyone can pull it off, it's Gilligan. But … I'm not overly optimistic.
