Emergency crews worked through the night Saturday to clean up an oil spill that contaminated irrigation water in the North Logan and Hyde Park area.
The spill happened Friday evening when heavy rain washed oil into an irrigation canal. The oil originated from a construction project on 1800 North in North Logan, according to Bear River Health Department spokeswoman Jill Parker. It spread 5 miles before crews diverted it.
Parker said Sunday morning the spill did not spread any farther overnight. The oil was diverted into a field near Highway 91, where crews spent the night cleaning.
