Unified Police were searching on Thursday for a man who bailed out of a moving car at the end of a high-speed chase and then eluded an ensuing search in southwest Salt Lake County.

UPD Lt. Justin Hoyal said investigators are looking for 26-year-old Justin Archer. Two female passengers in the suspect vehicle were taken into custody at the point where Archer allegedly jumped out and ran Wednesday night, near 2700 West and Market Street (about 3600 South).

The chase began about 10 p.m. when a UPD officer spotted a red Chevrolet Camaro, with its lights off, bolt out of a gas station parking lot near 5600 South and Redwood Road. When the car also ran a red light, the officer began pursuit.

After the driver abandoned the Camaro and his 20- and 29-year-old passengers, arriving officers brought the car to a halt and then began to search the area with dogs. Along with two females, officers also reportedly found a replica handgun inside the vehicle.

Anyone with information on Archer's whereabouts is asked to call UPD at 801-743-7000.
