A fire near Tooele burned a two-story home Friday that displaced seven people from two families.

North Tooele County Fire District spokesman Ryan Willden said the house, located in Pine Canyon just outside of Tooele, was a total loss. Firefighters were called to the scene just before noon and found the top story of the house engulfed in flames. Firefighters from North Tooele County, Tooele City and Grantsville attacked the blaze for about an hour before the fire was extinguished.

As of Friday night, the cause of the fire was still under investigation, Willden said.

The Utah chapter of the Red Cross said they had responded by offering food, lodging and clothing to the victims, which included the family living in the house and others who were renting the out of the basement.
