Soccer • Cristiano Ronaldo scored in the 17th minute and set up Mesut Ozil's goal 14 minutes later, leading Real Madrid to the final of the International Champions Cup with a 2-1 victory over Everton on Saturday night in Los Angeles.

Ronaldo and Ozil starred in the first soccer game played at 51-year-old Dodger Stadium, keeping Real Madrid unbeaten in friendly play this summer.

Second-half substitute Nikica Jelavic scored in the 61st minute for Everton, which gave a solid challenge to the Galacticos. Tim Howard, Everton's American goalkeeper, made a handful of brilliant saves to spark chants of "U-S-A" in the crowd.

The inaugural International Champions Cup matches seven European teams and MLS' Los Angeles Galaxy in an exhibition tournament.

The final is Wednesday night in Miami, where Real Madrid will face the winner of Chelsea's meeting with AC Milan outside New York on Sunday.

Just two weeks away from the season opener in La Liga, Real Madrid had more than enough talent to overcome Everton. The Toffees reached the semifinals earlier in the week with a surprise win in San Francisco over two-time defending Serie A champion Juventus, which faced the Galaxy in the second game.

• Landon Donovan scored the tiebreaking goal on a pass from Robbie Keane in the 60th minute, and the Los Angeles Galaxy surprised Juventus with a 3-1 victory Saturday night in the International Champions Cup tournament.

Omar Gonzalez scored in the first half, and Keane added a goal in the 88th minute on a terrible turnover by Andrea Pirlo as the two-time defending Major League Soccer champion Galaxy beat the two-time defending Serie A champions.

Alessandro Matri scored in the 39th minute for Juventus, which lost to Everton and the Galaxy in consecutive games in California this week.

Azarenka heads to California final

Tennis • Top-seeded Victoria Azaranka beat seventh-seeded Ana Ivanovic 6-0, 4-6, 6-3 on Saturday to advance to the final in the Southern California Open in Carlsbad.

Azarenka, ranked No. 3, won a sloppy match as both players committed more unforced errors than hit winners. The two-time Australian Open champ will face the winner of the late match between wild-card entrant Virginie Razzano of France and fifth-seeded Sam Stosur of Australia.

• Two-time champion Juan Martin del Potro turned things around after a rain delay of more than three hours Saturday night, coming back to beat Tommy Haas 7-6 (4), 6-3 and reach the Citi Open final.

The top-seeded del Potro stretched his winning streak at the hard-court tuneup for the U.S. Open to 13 matches. He won Washington's tournament in 2008 and 2009, then skipped it the past three years.

Trailing the third-seeded Haas 4-1 when a downpour came, 2009 U.S. Open champion del Potro won four games in a row.

In Sunday's final, del Potro will face eighth-seeded John Isner, the 2007 runner-up.
