A female bicyclist remained in critical condition Wednesday as police entered a second day of a manhunt for the hit-and-run driver who struck her as she rode in Millcreek.
Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal said the incident occurred Tuesday at 8:07 a.m. near 3700 South and 2300 East. The 43-year-old victim was riding her bike on 2300 East along the west shoulder near 3900 South when a southbound 2001-2003 model Acura TL sedan, either white or light gray, drifted off the road and struck her.
The driver then sped away from the scene southbound, cut through the parking lot of a Fresh Market store and nearly hit another vehicle. The suspect was last seen driving north on 2300 East and made a right turn onto Arnett Drive.
The suspect vehicle sustained extensive damage to its windshield as well as the passenger-side front fender, Hoyal said.
UPD released photographs of the car, recovered from Fresh Market security cameras, in hopes the public may recognize it.
The bicyclist was transported to Intermountain Medical Center, where her condition remained unchanged on Wednesday.
