A teenager was flown to a hospital after falling 50 feet while hiking near Layton on Saturday.

Davis County Sheriff's Deputy Kelly Sharp told KUTV News that search and rescue crews were dispatched to Adams Canyon just east of Layton at about 7:30 p.m. The teen had been hiking with a group when he reportedly fell and suffered injuries. The fall occurred about two to three miles from the Adams Canyon trailhead.

Sharp told the station that the boy was taken via helicopter in critical condition to Primary Children's Medical Center in Salt Lake City.

The Salt Lake Tribune will provide more information as details become available.
