Greek Festival 2013

Meet Your Priests Mix and Mingle

"Meet Your Priests Mix and Mingle" will introduce the Rev. Martin Diaz and the Rev. Jose Barrera into the Cathedral of the Madeleine. Bring an appetizer (finger food) to share. Beverages will be provided.

Operation Christmas Child Luncheon

Journey of Hope with Immigrants and the Poor Walk

The Peace and Justice Commission will stage a prayer walk/pilgrimage from 4 to 6 p.m. The 2.2-mile walk begins at the soup kitchen and proceeds with stops for prayer at the 4th Street Clinic, federal courthouse, federal building and then to the Cathedral of the Madeleine for a Mass.

Magnificat Concert

The Cathedral of the Madeleine will sponsor Magnifcat, an intercultural concert to honor the patronage of St. Mary Magdalene. Tickets can be purchased during coffee hour after Sunday morning Masses.

Bible Study Fellowship's Matthew Class

Folk Fest 2013

Folk Fest 2013 activities include a car show, golf tournament, games for all ages, rides for the kids, food and live music. Admission is free. The event is a benefit for St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, the Dorothy Day Food Pantry and the surrounding community. Visit stjoseph-wj.org for information.

God's Work — Our Hands Day of Service

In celebration of its 25th anniversary, the Lutheran Church in America has designated Sunday, Sept. 8, a day of service, called "God's Work — Our Hands." Our Saviour's Lutheran Church will join nearly 10,000 congregations for one dedicated day of service. Visit oslcslc.org/events for information.

Ignite Your Spirit

Christ United Methodist Church will hold an "Ignite the Spirit" worship and activities. Everyone should wear red. Services start at 8 a.m. followed by fellowship, refreshments, information and activities in the gym at 10 a.m. At 11:45 a.m., a free grilled lunch will be served. The day ends at 5 p.m. with Tween Flicks.

Capitol Hill Ward "Old Rock Church" Tours

Civil-rights document screening

The civil-rights documentary "An Ordinary Hero" will be screened. The film's subject, Joan Trumpauer Mulholland, will attend a reception afterward. Mulholland was a Freedom Rider and helped plan and organize the March on Washington, culminating with the Rev. Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" speech.

Shoebox Rally and Motorcycle Ride

Join Operation Christmas Child Northern Utah for the 10th Annual Shoebox Rally & Motorcycle Run. The ride starts at Harley-Davidson of Salt Lake, with registration at 9 a.m. and departure for a 94-mile trek through East Canyon to Morgan and back again to Harley-Davidson, where The Full Throttle Band will perform a concert and lunch will be served.
