Animal Collective

Spotlight show • The experimental band Animal Collective had to postpone its March tour date because band member Avey Tare had strep throat. But the band is back, in support of its most recent album, "Centipede Hz" with guests White Magic. In an interview conducted before the March date, band member Geologist said the group's most memorable Utah experience happened during the 2010 Sundance Film Festival, when it released a film called "ODDSAC." "The process at Sundance was a little weird," he said. "They would take your sodas from you." After the experience, the band regrouped in Baltimore, where "Centipede Hz" was recorded. At that time, the band welcomed back Deakin, who was absent for the recording and touring of the 2009 album "Merriweather Post Pavilion." Geologist said all the members moved back to their hometown in Maryland after several years of making New York City the center of operations. "It was a big event for all of us," he said. "When it's all four of us [together in the studio], it will be more dense and loud."
