Oktoberfest — Grace Lutheran Church and School

Welcome fall German-style at Grace Lutheran's Oktoberfest. There will be a children's carnival, silent auction and marketplace featuring more than 60 vendors, authentic German food and, of course, beer. Accordion player Janet Todd and her band, the Heidelberg Express, will provide music.

'No Greater Love' Exhibit

The LDS Church History Museum exhibit "No Greater Love," which includes works showing Christ's love in his earthly ministry and resurrection, runs through October 2014 in the museum theatre gallery. Visit history.lds.org/event/no-greater-love?lang=eng for information.

United Nations Association of Utah Potluck Dinner

The United Nations Association of Utah will have a free potluck dinner, fundraiser and panel lecture on The United Nations Children's Fund. Dinner will be at 6 p.m.; the program at 7 p.m.

Treasures of the Collection Open House

Bishop's Dinner for the Cathedral of the Madeleine

The Cathedral of the Madeleine will sponsor the Bishop's Dinner, a fundraiser for the preservation of the building. The Rev. George H. Niederauer, the former archbishop of San Francisco who used to oversee the Salt Lake City Diocese, will be the guest speaker. For more information, contact Laurel Dokos at 801-328-8941.

Celebration of Faith

The 10th Annual Community Celebration of Faith will feature the Interfaith Choirs and the historic 107-year-old pipe organ at the First United Methodist Church, the oldest in Utah with more of its original components in their original location. Hosting the event this year is the Rev. Eun-sang Lee, pastor at First United Methodist Church.

2013 Gandhi Peace Award

Utah poet and peace activist Emma Lou Thayne will receive the 2013 Gandhi Peace Award at the annual Gandhi Birthday Celebration. Also on the program will be a Muslim call to prayer and remarks by the imam of the Islamic Society of Greater Salt Lake.
