A Clearfield motorcyclist suffered head injuries Friday afternoon in a head-on collision.

Police say Preston Wirthlin, 20, had just made a left turn from Lakeview Drive onto State Road 126 when a Jeep Cherokee hit him. The Cherokee, driven by a 27-year-old woman from West Point, had been traveling north on SR-126, according to police. The accident happened at 2:51 p.m.

Crews transported Wirthlin to a hospital via helicopter for treatment of head injuries. He was not wearing a helmet, police report, but his injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

The driver of the Cherokee and two children in the vehicle did not suffer any injuries.

The accident forced the closure of SR-126 for about an hour. Citations may be issued, police say.
