A woman was in extremely critical condition Tuesday after she allegedly drove her car off State Road 39 and into a shallow part of Pineview Reservoir in an apparent effort to kill herself.

Weber County Lt. Mark Lowther said a fisherman was fishing about three miles west of Huntsville when he heard a loud bang and saw a column of dust rise in the air.

When he checked out the noise, he found a Chevy S-10 Blazer partially in the water.

By about 3 p.m., rescue crews had extracted the woman who was inside. The woman was not submerged in water, but suffered critical injuries in the crash itself, Lowther said.

About an hour before the crash, Lowther said deputies had received an attempt to locate from Clearfield police about the same woman who was allegedly threatening suicide.
