The dancers at Ballet West are learning what every Salt Lake Tribune reporter knows: How convenient it is, especially during Christmas shopping season, to work in a mall.

Ballet West has moved its rehearsal space and administrative offices into Trolley Square — a temporary home until next year, when the Salt Lake City troupe's new home, the Jesse Eccles Quinney Ballet Center, opens next door to the Capitol Theatre (oh, sorry, the Janet Quinney Lawson Capitol Theatre).

Two new studios have been built for Ballet West's professional company and the Ballet West Academy dancers, who rehearse there daily. Ballet West's administrative offices have also been moved into the shopping center, at 600 South and 600 East.

The Ballet West dancers will move into the Quinney Center in October 2014. The academy, though, will have permanent space at Trolley Square.
