"I need to get them more into a game rotation," he said after shootaround today.
Corbin let his starting five play the entire first quarter Sunday night in Oklahoma City (although the coach did have two subs at the scorer's table waiting to check in). Instead of letting Hayward and company play 12-minute stretches, Corbin said he'll cut it back to 8- to 10-minute stretches, allowing him to get that starting unit back on the floor sooner.
Corbin also said rotations "may be a little different with a couple of our elder statesmen" with a game against the Clippers tomorrow night.
Point guard John Lucas III was one of the last players on the bus after shootaround. The reason: he was finishing a game of one-on-one against player development coach Johnnie Bryant. Lucas narrowly Bryant with a crossover and a layup that wowed free agent point guard Scott Machado. There was some disagreement between the player and coach over whether Lucas was letting Bryant keep it close.
Jeremy Evans had a big ice wrap on his strained shoulder today.
He did not participate in shootaround and is doubtful for tonight.
Rudy Gobert (shoulder), Mike Harris (ankle) and Scott Machado (abdomen) are all game-time decisions. Brandon Rush (knee), Marvin Williams (achilles) and Trey Burke (finger) remain out indefinitely.
