Plans for tonight: Malcolm Gladwell, sold out

• Pop-punk band The Story So Far performs at The Murray Theater, 4959 S. State St. Murray. Opening acts: Stick To Your Guns, Such Gold, Rotting Out, Souvenirs. Show starts at 6. Tickets are $15.50, at Smith's Tix.

• Pop-punk band Mayday Parade performs at In the Venue, 219 S. 600 West, Salt Lake City. Opening acts: Man Overboard, Cartel, Stages & Stereos. Show starts at 6:30. Tickets are $23, at Smith's Tix or 24Tix.

• Author and thinker Malcolm Gladwell will deliver a lecture at Abravanel Hall, 123 W. South Temple, Salt Lake City. The lecture starts at 8, and is sold out.

• Alternative hip-hop band Latyrx — made up of Lateef the Truth Speaker and Lyrics Born — performs at The State Room, 638 S. State St., Salt Lake City. Opening acts: Skins & Needles, Grits Green. Show starts at 8. Tickets are $17, at thestateroom.com.

• Singer-songwriter Jay Brannan performs at The Urban Lounge, 241 S. 500 East, Salt Lake City. Opening act: The Femme Medea. Show starts at 8. Tickets are $15, at 24Tix.
