A spate of downtown Salt Lake City stabbings continued Thursday when a man stabbed an acquaintance during a failed attempt to sell a stereo.
The stabbing happened at 3:04 p.m. near 1400 S. McClelland St. when a 51-year-old man stabbed another man in an alley, according to Salt Lake City Detective Dennis McGowan. The men, who McGowan said knew each other, told police they had met up so the victim could buy stereo equipment from the alleged stabber.
McGowan said the victim told police that a fight ensued during the transaction and the alleged stabber pulled out a knife and demanded money. He then stabbed the victim.
