Two suspects in an armed robbery at a South Jordan motel were in the Salt Lake County jail on Friday after a brief police chase on Interstate 15.

South Jordan police Sgt. Sam Winkler said the male suspects, ages 44 and 34, were sought in the 11:30 p.m. Thursday gunpoint holdup of a woman at the Sleep Inn, 10676 S. Frontage Road.

The pair stole the woman's wallet and a short time later began using her credit cards, Winkler said. The resulting trail of transactions allowed South Jordan detectives to track the two and notify other Salt Lake Valley law enforcement agencies to be on the lookout for the suspects, Winkler said.

About 3:30 a.m. Friday, Metro Gang Unit officers spotted the suspects' 4-door sedan on I-15, and after a short chase pulled the vehicle over near 3300 South.

The vehicle was confirmed stolen out of South Salt Lake earlier this week, Winkler said.

The suspects were arrested without further incident and booked into jail on suspicion of aggravated robbery, fleeing, possession of a stolen vehicle and fraudulent use of a credit card.
