Police have identified a man who was fatally stabbed outside a downtown Salt Lake City homeless shelter last week.

On Nov. 20, Willie D. Hollingsworth, 49, hometown unknown, was found bleeding from a knife wound to his abdomen near the Road Home shelter, at 210 S. Rio Grande.

Leads in the case remained elusive for detectives. A 911 call brought police to the scene last week, but when they arrived Hollingsworth had already been taken to a hospital, where he died before they could talk with him.

Police did not know if he was stabbed where emergency responders found him, or if he arrived in the area already wounded.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call SLCPD at 801-799-3000.
