While President Obama is focusing on the benefits of the health care law, Republicans scheduled three hearings on Wednesday and another on Friday ("Obama: Focus on benefits of health care law," Tribune, Dec. 4). Again? Still?

While we're at it, let's have hearings on:

• the economic impact of job losses due to the sequestration,

• the $24 billion lost due to the govt shutdown,

• the lack of consideration of gun safety legislation in the face of overwhelming support,

• whether austerity or stimulus is better for the economy,

• gerrymandering.

There are a lot worse things going on in our country than people getting health care.
