Salt Lake Acting Company's production of "The Cat in the Hat" opened on Friday, and the run continues with daily matinee performances for Title 1 schoolchildren. Students from Whittier Elementary attended the show on Tuesday. More than 1,400 students are expected to see matinee shows during the run, which continues through Dec. 28, and the theater company is working with Reach Out & Read Utah, a nonprofit that provides books to students. Tickets are also available for evening shows at the company, 168 W. 500 North, Salt Lake City, at 801-363-7522 or saltlakeactingcompany.org.
