Interstate 15 is scheduled to close two nights this weekend in the Roy/Riverdale area for construction.

Northbound traffic is scheduled to close at Riverdale Road, exit 339, from Friday at 11 p.m. through Saturday at 9 a.m. Drivers will be detoured east along Riverdale Road to I-84 and then northward back to I-15.

Southbound traffic is scheduled to be closed there from Saturday at 11 p.m. through Sunday at 11 a.m. Southbound traffic is encouraged to exit at 31st Street, exit 341, and take Hinckley Drive west to 1900 West, then proceed south to 5600 South and turn east to rejoin I-15.

The closures are to allow demolition of an I-15 overpass at Riverdale Road as part of the final phase of reconstructing Riverdale Road from 1900 West to I-84.

"This project will improve traffic flow on Riverdale Road with new concrete paving and new configurations at the I-15 intersection and 1900 West. With new bridge structures as part of the project, this section of busy roadway will take us well into the future," said Randy Jefferies, project manager for the Utah Department of Transportation Region 1.
