Today's 2014 Sundance Film Festival trailer is all about being on top.

The Japanese comedy "R100" centers on Takafumi Katayama (Nao Omori), a mild-mannered government official with a young son and a comatose wife. He also occasionally has his daily routine interrupted by leather-clad dominatrices — because he has joined a secret S&M club that surprises its clients by showing up anywhere, anytime, especially in public.

The movie's title refers to the ratings system in Japanese cinema — suggesting that anyone under 100 might be disturbed by what happens.

"R100," written and directed by Japanese comic legend Hitoshi Matsumoto, debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival last fall. It appears in Sundance's Spotlight section, has its first screening Saturday, Jan. 18, at 6:45 p.m. at the Broadway Centre Cinemas 3 in Salt Lake City — and debuts in Park City on Sunday, Jan. 19, at noon at the Temple Theatre.
