Plans for tonight: Hexum's side project

• Folk musician Matt Pryor performs at Kilby Court, 741 S. Kilby Court (330 West), Salt Lake City. Opening acts: The Glass Gentlemen, Matthew Quen Nanes. Tickets are $14, at 24Tix.

• Indie rock band The Speed of Sound in Seawater performs at The Shred Shed, 60 E. Exchange Place (360 South), Salt Lake City. Opening acts: And I The Lion, Eidola, Red Bennies. Show starts at 7. Tickets are $12, at 24Tix.

• The Nick Hexum Quintet, a funk-jazz-blues side project of 311 guitarist Nick Hexum, performs at The Depot, 400 W. South Temple, Salt Lake City. Show starts at 8. Tickets are $26, at Smith's Tix.

• Austin dance/funk/soul band T Bird and the Breaks performs at The State Room, 638 S. State St., Salt Lake City. Opening act: The Sly All Stars. Tickets are $10, at the venue's website.
