A mother and her three children lost their home to a fire Sunday morning.

They escaped the house as it filled with smoke and called 911 at a neighbor's home about 2:07 a.m. But when firefighters arrived at the house, on the 300 North block of 200 East, it was fully engulfed, said Spanish Fork Police Lt. Matt Johnson.

The house wound up a total loss. The woman was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation and did not have to go to the hospital, Johnson said. She and her children have family in the county to stay with, and the American Red Cross is helping out as well, Johnson added.

Investigators are still working on determining the cause of the fire, which originated in the kitchen.
