A Salt Lake City man died Friday after hitting his head while on a cruise ship near a Hawaiian island, according to a newspaper.

The Honolulu Medical Examiner's Office confirmed James C. Harte, 87, of Salt Lake City, died. The Honolulu Star-Advertiser said Harte fell and hit his head about 10:30 p.m. Monday, according to the Honolulu police. Harte went to the hospital Thursday but died Friday night, the Hawaiian newspaper adds. Harte's autopsy is scheduled for Monday, according to the examiner's office.
