Kudos to Rep. Jennifer Seelig and every other member of the Legislature fighting to ensure Utah's state budget adequately provides for victims of rape and other violent crimes. ("Lawmakers make urgent fix to funding for victims of rape, other crimes," Tribune, Feb. 4).

Our state easily found $2 million to fund an unpopular legal effort to prevent same-sex couples from marrying, yet now the state is having trouble coming up with $877,000 to provide health services for victims of sexual assault. What does that say about our priorities?
