Sochi, Russia • Ski jumper Sarah Hendrickson once again did not take all of her allowable training jumps at the Sochi Olympics.

The reigning world champion passed on her first jump Sunday, the second of three official training sessions, then went easy again to finish 27th and 23rd — ahead of just two other jumpers each time. She and her coaches are trying to take it easy on her surgically repaired knee until she really needs it to compete Tuesday night.

Judging by training, Austria's Daniela Iraschko-Stolz might have to be considered the new favorite, ahead of two-time World Cup champion Sara Takanashi of Japan. Iraschko-Stolz beat Takanashi on the two jumps that both of them took after beating her in two out of three Saturday.

The other Americans in the field — Park City's Jessica Jerome and Lindsey Van — had results similar to their first training day. Jerome finished eighth, ninth and 15th on her jumps, while Van, a former world champion, was seventh, 13th and 16th.
