Matt Underwood registered 15 kills and a .542 attack percentage, helping the No. 2 BYU men's volleyball team sweep No. 7 USC 25-22, 25-16, 25-21 on Friday night at Smith Fieldhouse.

Taylor Sander also posted 15 kills for the Cougars, who improved to 10-3, 10-1 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation. BYU shot .308 for the game to .217 for USC, which fell to 10-5, 9-5.

Women's basketball

SLCC 67, Snow 65 • Bella Swan scored 15 points, including a pair of free throws that put Salt Lake Community College ahead for good late in the game, and the Bruins (25-6) defeated Snow (15-16) in the NJCAA Region 18 tournament in Ephraim. SLCC advances to play College of Southern Idaho in Saturday's region championship.

Men's basketball

SLCC 89, North Idaho College 72 • Gary Payton II scored 14 points and Jaden Jackson added 13 to lead the Bruins (25-6) at the Region 18 tournament in Ephraim. SLCC plays Southern Idaho for the region championship Saturday.

Baseball

BYU 8-4, Seattle 2-2 • The Cougars (4-8) pounded out 27 hits over two games to sweep a doubleheader in St. George.

Softball

Weber State 5, New Mexico State 3 • Pitcher MaCauley Flint gave up just two hits, helping the Wildcats (7-4) win their opening game of the Eller Media Stadium Classic in Las Vegas.

SLCC 7-1, College of Southern Nevada 4-4 • The Bruins (13-9, 11-6 SWAC) split a doubleheader at home and got a three-run homer from KyRae Kogianes in their victory.

Track and field

WAC championships • Nicholas Taylor won the 60-meter dash in 6.84 seconds to help Utah Valley to a third-place team finish with 113 points. Host Idaho won the meet with 173 points, edging Grand Canyon by a point. The UVU women took fourth with 80 points; Grand Canyon won with 166.5.
