An inmate's death at the Iron County Jail early Friday is being called an apparent suicide.

Medical personnel responded to the jail, located in Cedar City, at about 1:15 a.m. Friday, according to a news release from the Iron County Attorney's Office.

The inmate's name was not released, pending notification of family.

The case was being investigated by the Iron County Critical Incident Task Force, a group comprised of detectives from different local law enforcement agencies that investigates officer-involved shootings and in-custody deaths, according to The Spectrum.
