BYU football coach Bronco Mendenhall met with reporters after Tuesday's spring practice session and discussed a variety of issues, including the status of star running back Jamaal Williams.

Williams, 18, was arrested on charges of underage drinking last month (Feb. 16) and pled not guilty to the charges in Utah County Justice Court five days later.

News of the arrest surfaced on Sunday, and Mendenhall was speaking to the media for the first time since then.

He said Williams is "in great standing" with the football program and will remain so moving forward.

Williams' case will be heard on May 7 in front of Judge Stevan Ridge.
