Quick-acting firefighters saved a home, and a family's two dogs, while responding to a blaze Monday night.
Ogden Deputy Fire Chief Eric Bauman said the 911 call reporting the fire at 1122 Collins Blvd. came in at 6:59 p.m. Monday. Crews arrived to find heavy smoke coming from both the front and rear of the structure.
Firefighters from Ogden and the Northview Fire Agency entered the home and soon located the source of the flames, a bedroom, and extinguished the blaze before it could spread further.
In the process, they also located and rescued the two canines from the home's basement.
All occupants of the house had safely evacuated by the time firefighters arrived, Bauman said.
The cause of the fire was under investigation. Initial damages were estimated at about $5,000.
No injuries were reported.
