The Holladay City Council voted to purchase the Cotton Bottom Inn, but beer and garlic burgers will still be available at the bar for a few more years.
At its Thursday meeting, the council unanimously approved taking out a loan from Zions Bank to buy the 0.84 acres for $875,000. The city is also working on an agreement to lease the bar, which opened in 1966, back to the owners for at least three years.
Some options that city leaders are considering for the property in the future are building a fire station and combining the property with adjacent land the city already owns to create a park.
