Utah freshman right-hander Sammy Cordova was named the Pitcher of the Week in the Pac-12 Monday after throwing two complete games against Cal, leading the Utes to their first-ever Pac-12 sweep over the weekend.

In her two complete-game victories over Cal, Cordova allowed only two earned runs on 12 hits in 13.0 innings during her two appearances. The Huntington Beach, Calif., native struck out eight and walked three Golden Bears.

Cordova allowed only six hits in her first career complete-game shutout as Utah earned an 8-0 win over Cal in six innings during last Thursday's 8-0 run-rule, six-inning victory. She tied her season high by striking out five and walked only one in 6.0 innings of work.

During the Saturday series finale, a 5-2 Utah win, Cordova allowed two earned runs on six hits to go with three strikeouts and a pair of walks against the Golden Bears.

Cordova improved her record to 10-8 on the season and she now has eight complete-game efforts during her freshman campaign.
