Zions Bank's Women's Financial Group is accepting applications for 2014 Smart Women Grants.

The six, $3,000 grants will be awarded to proposals for projects that directly benefit women or low-income and underserved populations in Utah and Idaho, a news release said.

One grant each will go to a project in six categories that include small-business start-up and expansion; community development; continuing education and teacher support; child and/or elder care; health and human services; and arts and culture, according to the release.

July 7 is the application deadline.

Grant recipients will be announced in September, the release said.

Over the past nine years, Zions has awarded more than $180,000 in Smart Women Grants.

Last year's recipients included an early childhood education program, a store with products made in the United States by women-friendly companies and a support program for survivors of domestic violence.
