Another day, another round of thunderstorms and rain for northern Utah. But we're thirsty anyway, so bring on the rain, right?

Apologies to country songstress Jo Dee Messina, but her hit ballad "Bring on the Rain" seems perfect for Friday's forecast for the Wasatch Front, and echoes Thursday's weather patterns as well: high temperatures in the upper-50s to low-60s under mostly cloudy skies with morning showers and afternoon thunderstorms on stage.

The midweek rainfall brought some impressive measurements, according to the National Weather Service. The 36-hour totals, as of midnight Wednesday, indicated 1.31 inches fell in Draper, 0.8 inches in Clinton, about 0.6 inches in Ogden, Layton and Centerville, more than half an inch in Lehi and Pleasant Grove, and just less than half an inch in Salt Lake City and South Jordan.

In the mountains, the precipitation resulted in heavy snowfall in places, with Snowbird Ski Resort reporting 10 inches of the white stuff overnight.

However, skies were clearing in southern Utah ahead of Friday's forecast for highs in the low-80s and a 10-20 mph breeze to keep things pleasant.

The Utah Division of Air Quality gave "green," or healthy grades statewide.

The Intermountain Allergy & Asthma website had most allergen levels at "low," with the exceptions being a "very high" pollen count for oak and "high" for sycamore.
