• So there's not going to be a "How I Met Your Mother" spin-off, as CBS has passed on the "How I Met Your Dad" pilot starring Greta Gerwig. [Entertainment Weekly]

• Swedish filmmaker Malik Bendjelloul, who won an Oscar for his documentary "Searching for Sugar Man," was found dead in Stockholm Tuesday. His brother says it was suicide. [The Hollywood Reporter]

• Geek roundup: Zack Snyder has tweeted a photo of Ben Affleck in the Bat-suit; writer Roberto Orci has been tabbed to direct the third "Star Trek" movie; and the "Harry Potter" spin-off "Fantastic Beasts" has been given a release date of Nov. 18, 2016. [IndieWire, Variety, Vulture]
