Utah heavyweight Siala Mou "Bubba" Siliga's run in the Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions came to an end on Thursday night in a close quarterfinal bout.

Nick Mazurek of Chicago took a 3-2 decision over Siliga, who was representing the State Street Boxing Club and the Rocky Mountain Region Golden Gloves franchise.

Utah boxing official Troy Fullmer said the bout "could have gone either way" and that Siliga did a great job representing the state and the franchise.

The three other heavyweight (201-plus pounds) bouts were all scored 5-0 by the judges. Detroit's Craig Lews downed Knoxville's Frankie Bolton; Michigan's Jermaine Franklin Jr. downed New England's Cassius Chaney and Kansas City's Cam F. Awesome downed Nevada's Elvis Garcia.

Siliga defeated Nicholas Jones of the Kansas-Oklahoma franchise on Tuesday and Iowa's Kurtis Taylor on Wednesday.

Utah's two other qualifiers — Danny Galloway and Tyrell Rousch — were eliminated in the first round on Monday.
