The Los Angeles Angels have announced that five-time All-Star and 2010 Most Valuable Player Josh Hamilton will come to Salt Lake on an injury-rehab assignment, starting Thursday night.

Hamilton is one of only nine players to collect at least 1,000 hits, 175 home runs and 600 RBIs since 2007.

Hamilton suffered a torn ligament in his thumb on April 8 against Seattle and underwent surgery. He was hitting .444 over the first eight games of the season before being sidelined.
