A coach with a familiar last name is returning to Utah County to coach basketball.
Timpanogos High School announced Thursday that Izzy Ingle, son of former BYU coach Tony Ingle, will be its new boys' basketball coach next season. He replaces Nate Crandall, who resigned after the end of the year.
Ingle recently finished his seventh year as head coach of Gordon State College in Georgia. The Highlanders won the NJCAA Region 17 Championship and NJCAA District 13 Championship. He became the youngest coach in Georgia Junior College history to lead a team to the national tournament in Hutchinson, Kan. He became the youngest coach in Georgia college history to reach 100 wins as a head coach.
Ingle played for his father Tony from 2002 to 2006 at Kennesaw State, including playing on the only NCAA Division II National Championship team from Georgia. He played on teams that won Peachbelt Conference Championships in 2004 and 2005. He finished his career as the all-time winningest player in KSU history at 96-37.
