A family of five was rescued from the Great Salt Lake after their boat started taking on water.

The family ran aground on the west side of Antelope Island around noon Saturday, said Dave Shearer, harbor master for the Great Salt Lake State Marina. Their rudder broke and the boat started taking on water, Shearer said.

The family called for help and were able to bail water until rescuers towed them to the island, since it was closer, Shearer said.
