Members of the Smith's Food & Drug executive team, store managers and about 100 employees of the grocery chain participated Thursday in an effort to clean up the Jordan River Parkway.

The group joined Smith's coworkers in six other Western states where the chain operates in service projects to benefit nonprofit organizations in their communities.

Smith's said in a news release that it anticipated about 1,300 employees companywide would serve their communities Thursday, donating 2,600 hours of volunteer time.
