Some 977 students graduated from Westminster College on Saturday in the Maverik Center in West Valley City — the largest class in the school's history.

The speaker was Javier Palomarez, president and CEO of the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, who also received an honorary degree.

Professor emeritus Fred Fogo, author of three books on the 1960s counterculture, and trustee Robert Frankenberg, former CEO of Novell, also received honorary degrees.

Clara Jane Hallar, a sociology major, was the student speaker.

Business professor Melissa Koerner received the Manford A. and June Shaw Faculty Publication Prize, and honors program director Richard Badenhausen received the Gore Excellence in Teaching Award.

Graduate Lisa Curless won the Neisen R. Bank Memorial Award.
