The driver of a semi-trailer rig hauling a milk tanker died of injuries sustained in an early Wednesday morning crash on Highway 23 in Cache County.

Ronal M. Christensen, 58, of Burley, Idaho, was identified as the driver.

Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Todd Royce said the single-vehicle accident occurred about 6:30 a.m. when the northbound truck left the roadway and rolled, about 20 miles northwest of Logan, near Cache Junction.

It reportedly took emergency responders two hours to free Christensen from the wreckage. A crane was used to allow responders to safely access the driver, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the crash was under investigation by UHP, but the rig's tanker was seen whipping from side to side just before the driver apparently lost control.
