A man is recovering after a Layton motorcycle crash.

The man was driving his motorcycle south on Main Street at 6:34 p.m. Saturday when witnesses say he tried to pass someone just south of Hill Field Road, said Layton Police Sgt. Rod Dixon.

After trying to make the pass, he crashed into a Chevy Suburban that was turning left toward some restaurants, Dixon said.

While the man was taken to the hospital in critical condition, he had improved by 9:20 p.m., the sergeant said.
